Andover Choral Society Announces Open Rehearsals for 2016-2017 Season

The Andover Choral Society, directed by Michael Driscoll, invites those who enjoy singing fine choral music, to attend open rehearsals from 7:20 p.m.-9:30 p.m. on Monday, September 19 and Monday September 26 at Christ Church, 25 Central Street in Andover.

On Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the North Andover High School auditorium, the chorus will perform works of several Argentinian composers, including Martín Palmeri’s “Misatango”, a brilliant pairing of the ancient Latin mass text with the exhilarating rhythms of an Argentinian tango. On Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at the Pike School in Andover, the chorus will perform “Peace Like a River” a concert featuring Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and two contemporary pieces, September Sun commemorating those who perished on September 11, 2001 and Peace Like a River, an uplifting African-American spiritual. Each concert will be sung with professional orchestra and soloists.

High school juniors and seniors are invited to sing with the Andover Choral Society through the Society’s Choral Scholars Program. Funded by grants from the Andover, North Andover and Lawrence Cultural Councils, the program is free to students from any town if they are currently in good standing in their high school chorus.
