Join Andover Choral Society’s Virtual Spring Concert, Voices Diverse and Beautiful

[ANDOVER, MA] Andover Choral Society, directed by Dr. Michael Driscoll, invites all who enjoy singing classical choral music to join the chorus in preparing for a virtual spring concert, Voices Diverse and Beautiful: Music of the Merrimack Valley. The concert will feature a variety of sacred and secular choral works from the past through present day.  Several performing arts organizations from around the area will also perform in this gala event, showcasing the richness and diversity of the vibrant arts community in the Merrimack Valley.

Virtual, 90-minute rehearsals will be held on Zoom on Mondays beginning on, February 1, at 7:00 p.m. The first two rehearsals are free and open to all who pre-register, with a fee of $50 for all eleven sessions. Rehearsals will feature vocal warm-up exercises, talks by guest speakers, professional instruction in sight-reading and vocal techniques by Dr. Driscoll, and the practice and recording of selections for the spring concert. All voice parts are welcome and singers from any town are encouraged to participate. For more information, email membership@andoverchoralsociety.org.

Despite pandemic-related restrictions on in-person gatherings, Andover Choral Society has continued to provide choral music to the community. Local cable access channels in Andover, North Andover, Haverhill, Lawrence, and Derry, New Hampshire air several of the chorus’s performances. Concerts also can be found on youtube.com/andoverchoralsociety and at andoverchoralsociety.org.  Andover Choral Society distributes concert DVDs to local senior-living facilities and produces a weekly email called “A Moment of Music”, featuring music of past performances.  To receive these weekly emails, write to momentofmusic@andoverchoralsociety.org
