Franz Joseph Haydn: The Creation
With professional orchestra and soloists
About the Concert
Andover Choral Society opens its 90th season with Joseph Haydn’s magnificent oratorio, The Creation. Considered one of Haydn’s most brilliant works, the oratorio depicts the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis, the Book of Psalms, and John Milton’s Paradise Lost. This jubilant and uplifting work celebrates the creation of the earth, the seas, animals and birds, and humans. Enjoy Haydn’s enchantingly descriptive orchestral writing, triumphant choruses, and a trio of angels, portrayed by soprano, tenor, and baritone soloists.
The Creation was originally published in both German and English. Andover Choral Society will perform the work in English.
